In a room at Wheelock Terrace, a projector hangs from the ceiling. This unassuming box contains a high-tech, award-winning gaming system for people with dementia.
It’s called Tovertafel — “magic table” in Dutch. It beams images onto the table or floor, and people interact with them in “purposeful play.” The games are designed to use parts of the brain that don’t get damaged by Alzheimer’s.
