When do older people stop having dreams?
I am not talking about the dreams we all have at night, but rather the dreams that start with “I have always dreamed about … doing, seeing, accomplishing, finding, having …”
I suspect there comes a time in life when those kinds of dreams cease to exist due to physical or mental decline, but I suspect they remain a lot longer than most of us realize.
What if … Some senior living company had a singular mission of being the organization that makes dreams come true for older people?
That whenever they talked to a prospective resident, part of the conversation was about the older person’s dream.
… to make one more pie
… to visit Paris one last time
… to spend a day with their cousin
… to learn how to play the guitar
… to sing at Carnegie Hall
… to read one more book
… to write a book
… to compose a song
… to fall in love again
Disney
Fundamentally, Disney is in the business of making dreams come true. But just, as important as making dreams come true, they are also in the business of inspiring dreaming, helping kids and families have bigger dreams, Disney dreams.
What if older people started flocking to your senior living company because, like Disney, you were the maker of unique, wonderful dreams that left forever memories?
Teams
As I dreamed about making dreams for older people, I came to the realization that senior living has this unique opportunity to be the maker of dreams for team members as well as residents, but perhaps that is another article.
